Hey bitches, i'm back in New York and it feels good. I missed the place. Flight in was cool, KLM are probably the best airline i've ever flown with (but then i guess i only judge airlines on how many times i'm offered alcohol but you got to have some measure right?). Got into Willyburg around 10 last night and knew i was in the right spot when i got off the subway at Bedford Ave to see people with interesting haircuts and pointy shoes. I figured out the right way to Miles's place and met him on Grand and he brought me to the apartment. It's a nice pad, i have a very comfy couch and there's roof access where you get a pretty damn cool view of Manhattan. Started off the stay with some whisky on the roof then hit a local for beers where Miles, Mitch and I preoceeded to get very drunk (or at least i did but then i had a head start form the drinks on the journey, 2 different whiskies, beer and red wine, i LOVE KLM). We headed back to the apartment and passed an open restaurant so i went in to buy some beers off the guy. Apparently as i was inside trying to haggle a box of beers from this guy, there was some burly Mexican Dannny Trejo type who saw me go into this restaurant that was closing for the night. Mitch thought this guy was gonna kick the shit out of me thinking i was gonna rob the place but i think i was out by this time with half a box of beers. 12 cans for 15 bucks which is a shitty deal but i think i was just steamin and wanted to haggle:
"16 dollas"
"15"
"16. 16 dollas"
I reach into my pocket and peel off 15 in notes, putting the rest away.
"Listen, i'm putting 15 bucks in cash here on this counter and my friend here [Miles] is gonna pick up this box, okay?"
"16!"
"Here's the cash on the counter, we're taking the beers."
And with that, we did.
Back at the flat, one hit offa Mitch's bong and i was pretty fucked, pissing myself laughing to i-can't-remember-what until tears were coming out of my eyes. Crashed and woke up this afternoon to get: a set of the flat keys, a toothbrush, a bottle of Mountain Dew and a copy of Timeout. Now to plan....
(Oh i'm using Mitch's Mac so forgive any weirdness, Macs are mental.)
